Free at Home HIV Testing
Nevada residents, test yourself and find out your HIV status at no cost to you and from the comfort of your home.
Know Your HIV Status
The first step to protecting yourself and your loved ones against HIV is to get tested. Now, that step is easier than ever with free at-home testing available to Nevada residents. With OraQuick At-Home HIV Test Kit, you can test yourself for HIV and find out your status in as little as 20 minutes, without ever leaving your home.
How At-Home HIV Testing Works
The OraQuick At-Home HIV Test allows you to test yourself for HIV without sending a sample to a lab for analysis or visiting a clinic. Valued at $100, it’s the same test healthcare professionals have used for years and provides preliminary results in just 20 minutes. Designed for home use, this test kit is fast, accurate and, now, free. Just swab the inside of your mouth, set your timer, and find out your status.
Please note: The Oraquick test can take up to 90 days to detect HIV. If you receive a negative result and you think you were exposed less than 90 days ago. To ensure that you are HIV negative, we recommend that you remain abstinent and have a follow-up test 90 days after the exposure. If you receive a positive result from this test, it needs to be confirmed with an in-person HIV test. A person from the Southern Nevada Health District (SNHD) will follow up with you regarding your result.
What if I test positive?
Finding out you are HIV+ can be scary, but with treatment it is easily manageable. You can still live a long and healthy life. In fact, treatment is so effective it can make you undetectable, which means it is almost impossible to pass it to your partners.
What if I test negative?
Continue to use condoms and consider taking PrEP — a once a day daily pill that can keep you HIV negative. You should also get tested between 2-4 times a year to be sure you are negative
Think You've Been Exposed?
If you think you may have been exposed to HIV, PEP is an emergency prevention option that needs to be started no later than 72 hours after an HIV exposure.
The sooner you begin treatment, the better.
You can get PEP at nearest Emergency Room or Health Department.
